Terms of Use
The agreement between you and Rooftop Studio for the Splitcast app.
Last updated 6 September 2026
Splitcast is a training aid, not a medical device. It estimates pace and distance from your phone's GPS and displays heart rate reported by your watch or chest strap. Do not use it to diagnose, monitor or treat any medical condition. If you feel unwell while exercising, stop.
1. Acceptance
By downloading or using Splitcast you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Licence
Rooftop Studio grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Splitcast on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies and, where it conflicts with these terms, Apple's agreement governs. You may not copy, sell, rent, reverse engineer or redistribute the app except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
3. Health and safety
Splitcast gives you interval timings and spoken coaching cues. It does not know your medical history and is not supervised by a clinician.
- Consult a physician before starting or significantly changing a training programme, particularly if you have a heart condition, are pregnant, are recovering from injury, or have been inactive.
- Heart rate zones are calculated from a maximum heart rate you enter or that the app estimates. They are approximations, not clinical thresholds.
- Heart rate values come from your Apple Watch or Bluetooth sensor. Optical and strap sensors can be inaccurate, especially in cold weather, at high intensity, or with a loose fit.
- You are responsible for your own safety while running. Stay aware of traffic and your surroundings, and keep the volume low enough to hear them. Do not operate the app while driving or cycling in traffic.
- Stop exercising and seek medical attention if you experience chest pain, dizziness, faintness or unusual shortness of breath.
4. Accuracy
Distance, pace and route come from the GPS in your iPhone. Accuracy varies with buildings, tree cover, weather and device conditions, and can be poor or unavailable indoors. Splitcast does not guarantee that any measurement is accurate, and it should not be relied on for competition, certification or any purpose where an error would matter.
5. Your content and imports
Workouts you create belong to you and are stored on your device. When you import from a spreadsheet link, you are responsible for having the right to access that document. Splitcast fetches it directly from the provider and does not check its licensing, accuracy or safety. A training plan you import is authored by whoever wrote it, not by us.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use Splitcast to break the law, to interfere with the app's operation, or to attempt to gain access to systems you are not authorised to access.
7. Availability and changes
Splitcast is provided as it is at the time you download it. We may change, suspend or discontinue features in future versions. We are not obliged to provide updates, and a future version may require a newer version of iOS.
8. Price
Splitcast version 1.0 is free and contains no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising. If a future version introduces a paid feature, its price and terms will be shown before you buy, and Apple will handle the transaction.
9. No warranty
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Splitcast is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rooftop Studio is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of Splitcast. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
11. Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for Splitcast. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules of the country in which you are resident.
